"34 New Electrical Substations to be Set Up in Lucknow Ahead of Peak Summer, Costing ₹5-6 Crore Each: Union Minister"

At a meeting of the district electricity committee in Lucknow, energy officials announced plans to establish 34 new electrical substations in the state capital before the peak summer this year.

The existing transformers will also be upgraded to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the city. According to a LESA official, lands for the substations would be finalised soon, with 23 new substations expected in the Cis-Gomti area and 11 in Trans-Gomti.

Union Minister Kaushal Kishore, who attended the meeting, shared that the cost of building each substation would be around ₹5-6 crore. The new substations will be set up in various areas of the city, including Jaitikheda, Gehru, ITI, Narayanpur, and Gopramau, among others.

UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) chairman M Devraj has directed discom officials to make adequate arrangements to meet the anticipated electricity demand, which may rise due to the early onset of summer this year.

Officials were instructed to ensure power supply to all consumers as per schedule and prepare for preventive maintenance of transformers and cables to reduce breakdowns in summer.
