U.P. government and tech giant collaborate to enhance youth employability
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has urged the state's youth to continuously upgrade their skills to keep pace with the rapidly changing world. Speaking at an event on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that the state's skill development department is ushering in a new era where the youth will not only be skilled but also made fit to meet the modern-day industry demands.
The Uttar Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) worth over ₹5,000 crore with Tata Technologies to upgrade 150 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state. According to Warren Harris, CEO of Tata Technologies, the MoA will upgrade 150 ITIs in Uttar Pradesh and provide 11 new age long-term trades and 23 new short-term courses to connect the youth with employment opportunities.
Under the Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development, the state has a total of 305 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that offer various vocational training programs.
